Identifies Phases for Transformer or Switch Installations
How Cable Genie Works: The Cable Genie is easy to use because of it’s unique design and construction. The Cable Genie has two components: the Transmitter and the Handheld Detector. The Transmitter is attached to the isolated conductor (Target Conductor) at the near end, and at the far end the isolated conductor is grounded common to the concentric neutrals. The Transmitter sends a pulsed signal at a unique frequency down the Target Conductor and returns to the Transmitter via the common concentric neutrals. The Detector provides an audio tone and visual LED when clamped around the Target Conductor. There is no detector response for all the remaining conductors in the trench. The Cable Genie is a “must have” for all maintenance procedures where cable identification is necessary.

Identifies Individual Phases of Underground Single-Phase and Three-Phase Cable Groups: Cable Genie provides 100% Accuracy in identifying an individual cable within a group of energized or de-energized cables. This allows crews to identify the desired cable without de-energizing the remaining cables in the trench.
Transformer and Switch Cabinet Installations: When adding a new transformer or switch cabinet to an existing underground line, the proper cables can be easily identified. When more than one three-phase group are routed together in a trench, only the cables intended for the transformer or switch cabinet need to be de-energized. The Cable Genie guarantees the correct identification of the target cables whether it be the selection of a single-phase cable or a three-phase group. This assures that only de-energized cables will be spiked prior to cutting the cable or cables for the new transformer or switch cabinet application.
